LONDON BOMB ATTACK: HB woman's lucky escape

An act of kindness by a New Zealand woman living in East London may have saved her life as bomb blasts ripped through the London underground yesterday, killing at least 37 people and injuring hundreds.

Teresa Raeburn, 31, from Hawke's Bay, delayed her departure for work yesterday to look after her sick flatmate and was a few minutes late in reaching the underground station she normally uses to catch the tube to work in Putney Bridge.

By the time she got to the tube station it had been closed and emergency workers were trying to extract the dead and injured from the train wreckage.
