Oh my my !! Hitachi Finally Did it

GMI

Developing robots that walk in the gait of a human has long challenged robotics researchers.

Hitachi revealed “Emiew” its first humanoid robot. Hitachi enunciated that the 1.3m (4.2ft) Emiew was the world's quickest-moving robot yet revealed.

Hitachi established two Emiews -- Pal and Chum -- for the World Expo, which will be commencing later this month in Aichi prefecture, about 205 miles west of Tokyo.

Emiew, can run as fast as 3.7 mph, compared with Honda Motor Co.'s celebrated Asimo, whose top speed is a pokey 1.86 mph. Hitachi articulated that the Emiews currently have a vocabulary of about 100 words which company is planning to increase in the coming months.

Pal and Chum look a little bit like first-graders on wheels, chatting up a storm and racing around the room. Its "wheel feet" resemble the bottom half of a Segway scooter.

Toshihiko Horiuchi, project leader at Hitachi's Mechanical Engineering Research Laboratory Robotics Technology Project, articulated that, " They aimed to create a robot, which could live and be with people".

According to the United Nations (UN), by 2007 there will be almost 2.5 million entertainment and leisure robots in homes, compared to about 137,000 currently.
