Registration and Title System Application Time Out/Monitor Sleep
Feature |
PURPOSE
To provide information for Registration and Title System (RTS)
application users regarding the operating system time out feature and
sleep feature of the RTS monitor.
DETAILS
As a result of an operating system software upgrade, differences in RTS
workstation "time outs" were noted and the issue was raised during a
recent Tax Assessor-Collectors Liaison Committee conference call. While
not a statewide concern, this is beneficial user information.
Workstations will time out after a department-wide standard of 10
minutes of non-use. This standard time out is a security feature,
intended to reduce inappropriate access to RTS through unattended
workstations. This feature actually logs off the user and requires
either the same user to log on, or a call to the help desk to allow
access for another user.
In addition, RTS monitors slip into "sleep mode" after 20 minutes.
This feature saves power and also preserves the screen. The "wake up"
time varies depending on the age and condition of the RTS monitor. Some
older models have a slower wake up that will be alleviated with the
monitor replacements scheduled for next fall.
COUNTY ACTION
RTS users should log off the RTS workstation whenever they leave their
work area for an extended period. This will prevent any issues that may
occur if a user is logged on and is not available to re-access the
workstation.
