PURPOSE
To provide information on the new digital Smile Texas Style specialty license plate.

DETAILS

• The 78th Texas Legislature authorized a Smile Texas Style specialty license plate.

• This new digital specialty license plate is available for passenger cars and light trucks for a $30 annual fee, plus $40 if personalized.

• The department shall deposit $22 of the $30 application fee to the credit of the general revenue fund. Money in the account will be used by the Texas Department of Health, in making grants, to benefit the Texas Dental Association Financial Services for the sole use of providing charitable dental care. Of each fee received, the department shall use $8 to defray its administrative costs. The department shall credit $.50 cents from its administrative costs to the county in which the owner resides.

• The Form VTR-999 may be used when applying for the Smile Texas Style specialty license plates. Currently, the Smile Texas Style specialty license plate is listed on the back of the form. Customers may write in this selection on the front of the form until revisions to the form are finalized.

• Attached is a photocopy of the new Smile Texas Style specialty license plate, and a shell news release that may be customized and sent to local media.
