PURPOSE
To announce the revised Motor Vehicle Registration Manual and Motor Vehicle Title Manual with a November 2004 revision date.

DETAILS
Both manuals have been significantly reformatted based on user comments received from a statewide survey conducted in June 2004. The survey was conducted as a result of numerous inquiries and suggestions received during the 50^th Annual Tax Assessor-Collectors Conference in May 2004. Although the primary focus of this revision has been to "reformat" rather than "rewrite," we have provided complete rewrites to those chapters pertaining to salvage and specialty license plates reflective of legislation in HB 3588 and HB 2971 passed by the 78^th Texas Legislature. We will address rewrites of the remaining chapters after the next legislative session.

New features of the manuals include:

Information arranged by subjects
Pertinent information bolded within each subject
Related forms at the end of each chapter
Related statutes included with subjects
Tab dividers with chapter names
Specialty plates information added
Salvage title information added
Graphics and pictures added within chapter
Appendices of available forms and related statutes
Index reformatted by subjects

COUNTY ACTION
Upon receipt, please replace your current registration and title manual pages with the revised manual pages.

Repeat requests are subject to charges in accordance with Open Record policies. A subscription service is also available for an annual fee of $250. Subscribers will automatically receive all RTB mailings as they are issued.
