PURPOSE
This is to advise you that the Big Bend National Park
motorcycle specialty license plate is now available to the public.
DETAILS
- The 78th Texas Legislature passed HB 2971 allowing issuance of
specialty license plates to all vehicle classifications.
- In May 2004, Registration and Title Bulletin #054-04 was mailed to all
county tax assessor-collectors, advising of the implementation of a six-month
pilot program in regard to the issuing of a few specialty license plates to
motorcycles. The new Big Bend National Park motorcycle specialty license plate
has been added to the program.
- Attached is a copy of:
- the new Big Bend National Park motorcycle specialty license plate;
- the revised Application Motorcycle License Plate (Nonqualifying)
(Form VTR-995-N) to include the Big Bend National Park motorcycle license
plate. This form may be photocopied for use until you receive a supply of
the revised form; and
- a shell news release that can be customized and sent to the local media
concerning the issuance of Big Bend National Park motorcycle specialty
license plates.
- The Registration and Title System Administrative Tables have been updated
to include this plate.
DEPARTMENT ACTION
After the six-month period, the Texas Department of
Transportation (TxDOT) will evaluate the sales of these plates to determine if
expansion of the program is warranted.
