Subject:	Recording the $1 Insurance Fee on the Form VTR-31-RTS, Tax Collector’s Receipt for Texas Title Application/Registration/Motor Vehicle Tax

PURPOSE
To provide information about documenting the $1 insurance fee on the Form VTR-31-RTS, when using the form for processing title transactions and issuing registration.

DETAILS
The current Form VTR-31-RTS is being revised to accommodate the $1 insurance fee collected as a result of House Bill 3588, enacted by the 78^th Texas Legislature, Regular Session. You will be notified as soon as the form is available (February – March).

COUNTY ACTION
Effective January 11, 2004, please annotate the $1 insurance fee to the far right of block 42, PROCESSING COUNTY (see attachment) and also add the $1 in block 40, TOTAL FEES, on the Form VTR-31-RTS.
