Knights of Columbus Specialty License Plate |
PURPOSE
To provide information on the new digital Knights of Columbus specialty license
plate that is available to the public effective November 2003.
DETAILS
-
The creation of a new digital specialty license plate, Knights of Columbus, was
authorized by the 78th Texas Legislature.
-
This specialty license plate is available for passenger cars and light trucks
for a $30 annual fee, plus $40 if personalized. These fees are in addition to
the regular annual registration fee. The department shall retain $8 to defray
the cost of administering this section. From that amount $.50 will be credited
to the county in which the owner resides.
-
The remainder of the fee shall be deposited to the credit
of the
State Council of Charities account in the general revenue fund. Money in the
account may be used only by the Texas Education Agency to make grants to
State Council of Charities to carry out the purposes of that
organization.
-
The Form VTR-999 may be used when applying for the Knights of Columbus specialty
license plates. Currently, the Knights of Columbus selection is on the back of
the form. Customers may write this selection on the front of the form until
revisions are made.
-
The Texas silhouette in the upper right corner of the license plate is a new
feature on all new specialty license plates.
-
Attached is a photocopy of the new Knights of Columbus specialty license plate
and a shell news release that you may customize and send to local media.
