Proposed Amendments to Title 43, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 17 |
PURPOSE
To provide information regarding proposed adoption of amendments to Title 43,
Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 17 (43 TAC Chapter 17) relating to
Nonrepairable and Salvage Motor Vehicles, and Salvage Vehicle Dealers.
DETAILS
On October 30, 2003, the Texas Transportation Commission proposed adoption of
amendments 43 TAC Chapter 17. The amendments are necessary as a result of
enactment of House Bill 3588, Article 17, by the 78th Texas
Legislature, Regular Session, 2003.
The following amendments were proposed:

Amended §17.2, concerning definitions relating to Motor Vehicle Certificates of
Title;
-
Repeal of §17.8, concerning certificates of title for salvage vehicles;
-
Repeal of Subchapter D, concerning Salvage Vehicle Dealers;
-
Added new Subchapter D, Nonrepairable and Salvage Motor Vehicles; and
-
Added new Subchapter E, Salvage Vehicle Dealers.
The proposed amendments will be published in the November 14, 2003, issue of the
Texas Register, for the purpose of receiving public comments. Written comments
regarding the proposed rule may be submitted to Jerry L. Dike, Director,
Vehicle Titles and Registration Division, 125 East 11th Street,
Austin, Texas, 78701-2483. Additionally, the department has scheduled a public
hearing to be held at 9:00 a.m. on December 9, 2003, in the first floor hearing
room of the Dewitt C. Greer Building, 125 East 11th Street, Austin,
Texas, during which oral and written comments may be submitted. The deadline
for receipt of written comments is 5:00 p.m. on December 15, 2003.
