These documents contain text of correspondence sent by TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the state’s vehicle titling and registration process.


Registration and Title Bulletin #115-03

Date: October 8, 2003
To: All County Tax Assessor-Collectors
Subject: New Specialty License Plates

PURPOSE
To provide information regarding the new specialty license plates that are available to the public effective September 2003 (see attachments).

DETAILS
The following specialty license plates, authorized by the 78th Legislature are now available:

  • Airborne Parachutist;
  • Distinguished Flying Cross Medal Recipients;
  • Enduring Freedom;
  • Fight Terrorism;
  • Daughters of the Republic of Texas (Native Texan);
  • Operation Iraqi Freedom;
  • Texas Constables; and
  • Texas Master Gardener.

Additionally, due to the legislative session, the "New Millennium" Specialty License Plate is now the "Texas Reads" Specialty License Plate. The graphics on the plate have not changed; however, the previous legend "New Millennium" now reads "Libraries – License to Read."

Copies of the new specialty license plates and applications are attached. The applications may be photocopied for use until you receive a supply of the forms.

In some cases the Registration and Title Bulletins (RTB) contain attachments. If you require a copy of the original signed RTB and the attachments, please email your request with the RTB number to VTR Info Request/Open Records. Repeat requests are subject to charges in accordance with Open Record policies. A subscription service is also available for an annual fee of $250. Subscribers will automatically receive all RTB mailings as they are issued.
