Subject:	Revised Form VTR-272, Application for Registration Purposes Only

PURPOSE
To provide information regarding the revised Form VTR-272 (Rev. 09/2003), Application for Registration Purposes Only.

DETAILS
Under the "imported vehicle" section of the previous version of the Form VTR-272, the fifth box stated:

"Commercial vehicle used in international trade. Oral declaration was made as provided by U.S. Customs Service, Title 19, Paragraph 123.14 (DOT Form HS-7 is not required.)"

After consulting with U.S. Customs, we have been advised that these vehicles do not have the option of U.S. registration and this statement has been deleted.

The revised form is currently being printed and will be distributed to your offices in the near future.

COUNTY ACTION
A copy of the revised Form VTR-272 (Rev. 09/2003) is attached for your reference. This form may be photocopied for use until you receive a supply of the revised form. Upon receipt of the revised Form VTR-272, please destroy your existing stock.

DEPARTMENT ACTION
The Vehicle Title Manual will be updated with the revised Form VTR-272 and language pertaining to the revision will be deleted.
